Kat Maerz

My name is Kat, and I am running for City Council because I believe strong communities are built through service, responsibility, and connection. I currently serve as a Senior IT Manager for a luxury mattress company, where I lead complex systems and teams with a focus on accountability, transparency, and long-term planning.

Beyond my professional career, I am a foster and adoptive parent, experiences that have deeply shaped my commitment to advocacy, stability, and thoughtful decision-making. My family and I have proudly called the City of Hays home for nearly two years, and in that time I have come to value the unique character, growth, and potential of our community.

We also operate a small hobby farm, Jameson Farms, which has become a place of learning, responsibility, and connection for our family and friends. Our goats are a favorite among visitors, and neighbors are always welcome to stop by and say hello. I am running for City Council to bring a steady, collaborative approach to local leadership and to help make our city a place where neighbors feel connected, heard, and supported.
