Kat Maerz

My name is Kat, and I am running for City Council because I believe strong communities are built on service, integrity, and shared responsibility. I currently work as a Senior IT Manager for a luxury mattress company, where I oversee complex systems and lead teams with an emphasis on clarity, accountability, and sustainable planning.

Outside of my professional work, I am a foster and adoptive parent, (adopting five children)—roles that have profoundly influenced my commitment to advocacy, consistency, and careful decision-making. My family and I have proudly called the City of Hays home for nearly two years, and during that time I have grown to appreciate the character, momentum, and promise of our community.

We also run a small hobby farm, Jameson Farms, which serves as a place of learning, stewardship, and connection for our family and friends. Our goats are a favorite among visitors, and neighbors are always welcome to stop by. I am running for City Council to offer a steady, cooperative style of leadership and to help ensure our city remains a place where neighbors feel heard, respected, and supported.
